15 May US-Amazone Chloe Reid gewinnt Großen Preis der Deutschen Kreditbank AG
(Redefin) She had to wait, and then wait some more: between the jump out of the saddle and the enormous delight about the victory, the 25-year-old US-Amazone Chloe Reid had to wait for seven competitors to finish. “I have been in a jump-off so many times, knowing that great people like Eiken Sato or Janne came after me – waiting makes you really nervous,” laughed the winner of the Deutsche Kreditbank AG Grand Prix at the Pferdefestival Redefin.
Riding the eleven-year-old Hanoverian mare Souper Shuttle Reid managed a clear round of 42.35 seconds in the jump-off of the most prestigious class of the three-day international show. “Our next goal is the Nations Cup in Rome,” admitted Reid, who trained with Markus Beerbaum for many years: “This was the perfect preparation for us here.”
Japan’s Eiken Sato successful once again
Many tried in vain to beat the US rider’s time. The closest was Eiken Sato, Japanese Olympic participant, with Chacanno JRA, bred by his trainer Paul Schockemöhle / Lewitz Stud. For the experienced rider a fine success, because “for us the World Championships are a goal this year, we hope to be there.” Sato was also part of the Japanese Olympic team in Tokyo.
The best German was Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann from Pinneberg, who rode her “plane” Chesmu KJ to third place. “He always jumps very high, it really feels like flying,” laughed the show jumper, who has had the eager grey in her stable for 1.5 years. Only a few weeks ago she won the Grand Prix of the Deutsche Kreditbank AG at Horses & Dreams meets Canada and today she was again among the top three in the Grand Prix in Redefin.
The show jumping arena was tightly packed on Sunday – Redefin’s Pferdefestival was a popular destination for day trippers, picnics and meetings with family and friends. A fact pleased organiser Francois Kasselmann. “After two years, this is what everyone has been waiting for, and it is lovely to see and experience that people can meet again. In addition, there was really great sport,” said Kasselmann, “and we can be thankful that our partners and sponsors made it possible that we could experience a Pferdefestival Redefin again.”
Elitist wins NÜRNBERGER BURG-POKAL
The eight-year-old Elitist by Escolar won the qualification for the NÜRNBERGER BURG-POKAL in Redefin with his trainer Juliane Brunkhorst from Harsefeld. Like in the preliminary competition, the pair came out on top in the Prix St Georges Special with the Rhineland gelding. Redefin is one of only 12 stops nationwide for the most important German series for young horses aged 7 – 9. The 38-year-old Juliane Brunkhorst is going to have fond memories of her weekend in Redefin, she also won the Grand Prix Freestyle of the CDI3* Tour with Aperol and the Grand Prix before that. The riders from 14 nations felt comfortable at the new location. “It is very practical and good for us to have the competition area and the warm-up area so close together,” Brunkhorst emphasised, “and for the younger horses, who have hardly seen any spectators in the past two years, it was a completely different experience.”
The diverse programme, which ranged from the Bundeschampionat qualifications to the Grand Prix Freestyle and Grand Prix Special, good weather and the inviting large grandstand attracted many curious dressage fans to the Parade Stadium on the weekend. The view includes both the warm-up area and the competition and access to the dressage stadium was also completely free.
“There is always something that could be changed or improved,” said Francois Kasselmann, “but as always we will look at that afterwards. I think there is no reason why we shouldn’t experience international competition at the Pferdefestival Redefin again in 2023.”
